Beauty and Messiness

September 15

I give thanks to God for the marigolds that brighten my September garden. Not much else has survived the summer heat besides weeds and grass.

 Marigolds volunteer from year to year and in this season cover most of the garden beds. I neither sow nor reap these beauties, yet they bring me joy and give glory to our Creator.

 A few days ago I shared a picture of some of the marigolds that bring me so much pleasure this time of year. Today, I turn my lens on the messiness that is also part of my fall garden.  August is too hot for maintenance and by September most of the production is winding down. Beauty and missiness - I encounter both every day. Both are just part of life. As much as I can, I try to keep my focus on the beauty and deal with the messiness as best as I can.  The garden keeps me grounded in the natural rhythms of life.

The green beans grew, now mostly weeds.
